Sandwiched in between two banks in PJ New Town is Nasi Kandar Penang. The store has been there for as long as I can remember and way before the banks took all the adjacent stores. The story has it that one of the banks offerred them a pretty sum to move out but they declined because it would mean that their clientelle would have a hard time locating them.
The food here is still good but what made this place stand out was the excellent service that we received. Seeing that my mother was having difficulty walking, they arranged a table closest to our car in their al-fresco dining section. And then they took a cushioned chair for my mother. Cushioned chairs are only meant to be used inside but they decided customer comfort was more important than standard operating procedures. Now, that's employee empowerment and customer centricity.
They also knew what to recommend to cater for the children. That's personalization.
We had kurma chicken, fried chicken, mutton curry, fish cutlet, fish curry and vegetables for 4 adults and two children.
Altogether it came up to RM54. Not a bad price to pay for a meal but what blew me away was their excellent customer service. If you are ever in need for an Indian meal and are in PJ New Town, this is the place to go. And it's open for 24 hours just like the bank's ATM beside it.
