Well Mike, you asked for it and here it is. A list of places which have been recommended but have yet to be reviewed. Hey if anyone wants to be a reviewer please let me know.

Why aren't there reviews for all of these places?

  1. I am only 1 person and I can't eat all the CKT out there (much as I would like to)
  2. I have actually been there but have chosen not to publish the review as it's not to my liking. Having said that, taste is a very subjective thing, so you may want to try it out yourself. Some of these places that I don't like, have a steady stream of clients, so it must mean that they must like it.

Thanks to all those who have submitted their lists. I appreciate it very much.
To the rest of you keep those suggestions coming in. And do tell your friends about this site. CKT lovers of the world unite!

KL

downtown

Jalan Alor (near the Istana Hotel), opens from dinner onwards.

Jalan Imbi - somewhere opposite the Overseas Restautant, end of the same row where Sakura is.

old klang road, kuchai lama, salak south
old klang road beside the maybank. tin wah coffee shop.
nelson's char kuey teow. a stall outside the salak south market.

damansara heights
jalan batai, damansara heights - some people think this CKT is great, I don't think so.

brickfields
restoran cheong hua. at the crossroads of jalan thambypillai & tun sambanthan 4. probably the best in KL.

restoran yit seang. also at the crossroads of jalan thambypillai & tun sambanthan 4. across the road from cheong hua.

restoran sri oriental. jalan thambypillai

off jalan tun sambathan 4, outside 7-11. charcoal fried and with duck eggs too! but I have never found it, so it's possible that this tip is outdated.

taman tun dr ismail
restoran OK. behind the bumiputra commerce bank. good.

restoran Yong Len. Jalan Tun Mohd Fuad 1, 60000 KL. decent

PJ

sea park
seaview coffee shop. ask for extra cockles.
restoran O&S, quite good. only 4 cockles per plate though. be prepared to wait during peak periods.

ss 2
restoran lim mee yoke (ex-cheow yang)

restoran SS2 sun hin loong. halal. no cockles, no lard. no banana leaf. but interestingly leaves a positive after-taste. however, i wouldn't go back there.

ss 3
restoran ching swee. jalan ss 3/64. halal but still tastes decent.
restoran kuan yew
restaurant hup soon, next to the shell station

ss 5
subang ria coffee shop. next to FAM. however lady typically fries a few orders at once.

pj new town
restoran melodi next to the old state cinema. lots of lard! yahooooey!

pj old town
coffee shop directly opposite the market, beside a clinic. opens only in the morning. if you like "lap cheong" then you have to specifically ask for it.

bandar utama
champ's but you must get richard to fry it.

section 14

restoran ah fatt, jalan 14/48, 46100 PJ. decent CKT but only when you can't get to the better ones.

section 17
the stall in the kopitiam in front of a playground. jalan 17/7.

Subang Jaya
ss 19
parkway restaurant - guy fries the CKT a bit on the wet side and there's no lap cheong, banana leaf or lard but taste wise - it was really not too bad. you can tell him to fry it a bit more dry if that's your preference.

Seremban

in town

Jalan Temiang - only open at night. man uses a wood fire stove. southern style CKT with the thick black sweet sauce.

Singapore

"Penang! Penang! at 217 East Coast Road (Katong area)
Copthorne Kings Hotel coffee house buffet
