Aman Suria & Sunway Mas is now the happenning new place for food in PJ. We had wanted to try another place initially but it was packed to the brim so we had to KIV a visit to that place for another day. Looking around we found another place that was fully air-conditioned and though the haze had abated, perhaps it was still a good idea to choose this place. The place was still very new & the air-con was quite cold, which is a good thing. Parking here is still quite easy, nothing like SS 2.
The store manager, Yvonne Lim, was quite helpful in helping recommend dishes to us. We had the House Special Bean Curd. This was fried bean curd with crab meat in it (RM12.50 for a small plate). While it was OK, I guess I don't really like my bean curd fried. Next time I shall stick to hot pan or claypot bean curd.
The winning dish of the night - the Loh Hon Zhai (RM13.50 for a small plate) was truly excellent with the dish managing to retain the sweetness of the vegetables. I have never had Loh Hon Zhai so tasty and so fresh. This is a must have.
Yvonne said that we had to have the House Special Curry Fish Head (RM26 - small) as it was one of their signature dishes. As the dish arrived, the aroma of the curry hit us with such a force we almost fell off our chairs. But what followed was somewhat of disappointment. The fish head was probably put in after the curry was cooked so the fish did not really have the curry soaked in it. I like it with taste of curry soaked inside the fish.
The Pan Fried Braised Pork Belly (RM18) which is actually Casis' "Fah Lam" served with Chinese Bread Rolls. We were expecting a different kind of 'fah lam' but that is not to say we were disappointed. Pleasantly surprised would be a good way to describe it. The sauce complemented the bread roll very well. Try this.
