I had heard a lot of mention about this "sang har mee" from JC and he classified this as the best in KL? JC is usually quite spot on where food is concerned so I decided that I would give it a try. After several failed attempts at sampling it, I finally had it. I found why I had missed it so many times. They are only open from 12:30 noon - 2:30 pm and 6:30 pm to 9 pm. The few times I had been there - I was either too early or too late. I asked the proprietor why she opens for such short hours only - she has limited help. They had planned for their son to help out with the cooking but he chose not to do so. It was a real disappointment to the store owners. OK enough of background information - was it really that good?
Absolutely, without a doubt - it's the best "sang har mee" in KL and PJ. Life Centre is over priced, PJ's Greenview is good but doesn't come close to this. What sets it apart? They soak the prawn in wine - and it's so distinct that you can taste it the moment you sink your teeth into it. While some people like their "sang har mee" with "yee mee" - I like it with fried "sang mee." Prices are based on the size of the prawns so it could range from about RM30 a plate for a serving for two to RM80 or more. During my first trip there, I had forgotten to replenish my wallet with cash and so ended up scrounging for money between our dinner party of three. The lady was so nice to say that I could come back to pay another day. So Customer Care factors very strongly on why this place is the best as well.
