Damansara Palace, Mutiara Damansara |

The Mutiara Damansara area is now the hotspot of residential living in the Petaling Jaya area and of course, where there are people, there will be restaurants. So it's not surprise that you'll find Chinese restaurants sprouting up and Damansara Palace is one of the those places. This use of the palace name is sometimes only in name but it doesn't extend to their quality of food. Note how the standard has dropped on at what was once a standard bearer for dim sum and chinese cuisine in Petaling Jaya - Summer Palace.
So is Damansara Palace one of those pretentious sounding places?
The dim sum menu was quite limited - serving only about 10 types of dim sum. Or maybe they only had types of dim sum left when we got there about 2 pm. But I guess more important that the variety is how the dim sum tastes.
The prawn dumpling was actually quite good but the skin was too thick.
The Hong Kong chee cheong fun was not thin not smooth enough.
The fried yam dumpling was a real disappointment, not good at all.
The "loh mai kai" is a Guangzhou style one, which is very dry and apart from chicken, it also has salted egg yolk in it. Not too bad but if you like "loh mai kai" wet, you won't like this.
They do have a nice banquet hall which has a large pillarless room which could be quite good for wedding dinners. Be warned that you'll have to walk up a flight of
stairs to get to the restaurant which is located on the 1st and 2nd
floors. There is no lift to get up there, so it's not a conducive place to bring someone elderly.
