Yau Char Kwai Yau Char Kwai or Yew Char Kway (chinese fried bread)  is such a simple food  item and you would think that the consistency and quality of Yau Char Kwai everywhere is the same. That was what I always assumed until I discovered the Yau Char Kwai at Chow Yang.

The Yau Char Kwai here is the best I have had. It is soft to the bite and crispy on the outside and there is such a wonderful taste to it. The proprietor adds a bit of sesame seed to his Yau Char Kwai but I believe the secret is in the oil he uses.

While I do not know how often he changes his oil, he definitely changes it more often than others. You see a golden brown oil rather than a black oil and I think that's what contributes to the taste.

Be prepared to wait though. Orders take about 15 to 20 minutes to fulfill. The stall is located outside the Lim Mee Yoke restaurant in Chow Yang and is open in the mornings and evenings.

Each piece of Yau Char Kwai or Ham Chim Pang is RM0.60.
