Jonathan suggested that I should try out the Char Kuey Teow at Chuan Lee which he said was pretty good. Chuan Lee is located on Jalan Bukit, which was a little bit of homecoming for me, since I used to attend the Alam Shah primary school some time ago. OK, maybe more than sometime ago.
The Char Kuey Teow is actually not too bad eventhough there was no banana leaf, "lap cheong" (chinese sausage) and lard. The kuey teow was nicely fried with the taste evenly spread throughout the plate. There were 3 prawns in the plate of char kuey teow which of pretty good size as well. And he was certainly very generous with the cockles.
I wished that he had put more chili in the char kuey teow. I asked for extra chili but still it came out more muted than I would have liked it.
Each plate of char kuey teow is RM3 for a small plate and RM3.50 for a large one. Apparently the char kuey teow seller is quite a grouch but I saw him chatting up a sweet young thing today. I guess he's only a grouch if you are not a sweet young thing.
The other stall that looked kind of busy here at Chuan Lee was the Indian Rice stall. The curry looked pretty good.
