New stuff at William's, Taman Mayang E-mail

William's is now the badminton gang's regular "makan" place after our workout. Whatever we work off is immediately put back on when we go to William's.

Today's new item was Nasi Goreng Ketam (fried rice with crab) which was recommended to us so the whole gang decided to go for the fried rice tonight. At 9:30 pm, the place was packed and we wanted to get our meal as quick as possible and we were assured that our food would take no more than half an hour to arrive. We had William's guarantee, so if you can't trust his word at his joint, who else could you trust.

The Nasi Goreng Ketam arrived some 20 minutes later, indeed arriving within William's stipulated service level agreement. William uses a fragrant rice fried with a tomyam sauce that he brought in from Vietnam making the dish a spicy one. If you are not one for a strong constituent for the hot stuff, stay away from this dish. The rice is somewhat sticky to bring out the flavour of it and the crab is fried to such a crisp that you can eat everything - meat and shell together. The Nasi Goreng Ketam, I would say, reminds me of a Seafood Paella (it's got prawns and calamari in it as well) with rice having that same sticky consistency rather than most fried rice that we would find in Malaysia where  the rice tends to be hard.

So you'll have to set your expectation on what to expect. At RM12 a plate, it's a humongous serving, so much so that Nelson and Mark could not actually finish their rice and had to doggy bag their meal. William says his servings are always big because it's his mission in life to make everyone in PJ (or at least those who are regular patrons) to have a stomach as big as his. Serious - ask him the next time you are there.

Oh, he does not have a website yet - this as close as he has to a website.
