The Bird Restaurant serves a fusion of Malay, Chinese, Thai & Nyonya dishes and offers a good sized portion for your money. We came here because we were celebrating John's farewell to China. He had been here before and he said The Bird Restaurant offers good value for money.
In the party that night were the usual suspects - Nelson, Uncle Gary, John (who didn't do a John this time by disappearring at the last minute - instead it was Jeffrey who did a John) and a new addition to the team - Leong.
We left the task of ordering to John since it was his farewell.
John ordered a set and then added a few more dishes. So we had the Coffee Fried Chicken Wings, the
House Tofu,
Thai Basil Leaf Harko (mantis prawn - something that tastes a lot better than it looks), the King Tph Prawns, Ginger Scallion Beef, Four Heavenly Kings vegetables and the Nyonya Fish.
Most of the dishes were OK but the standout of the night was the Nyonya Fish. It is a deep fried garoupa topped with a spicy nyonya sauce.
The sauce was more Thai style than Nyonya but it was still good. I like the Thai Basil Leaf Harko and the Ginger Scallion Beef was not bad. The beef was quite tender.
Dinner fot the 5 of us came up to RM135. A pretty decent sum considering we had the amount of food that we had.
