It had been awhile since I had been to Aman Suria for a meal and when Luke Teong invited me for makan, you can bet I didn't say no for an answer. Luke originally proposed Original Kayu Nasi Kandar but after my experience with that place, I begged for someplace else.
Being the kind soul that he is, Luke acceded to my request and that's how we ended up the Maroon Cafe. It's quite easy to spot the Maroon Cafe - it's the one with the funky looking canopy outside. Anyway funky or not, if the food is crap - then funky looking exterior amounts to nothing. Well, I am glad to say that the food was not too bad at all. We had some plain naan, garlic naan, mutton masala and tandoori chicken. The tandoori chicken was nothing to shout about - I think you safely steer clear of that and not be missing anything. But do try the mutton masala. The masala was thick and tasty. The mutton was tender and just lovely to sink the teeth into. I enjoyed the food but more than that, I enjoyed Luke & Kah Fai's company as well. Plus they were buying - so what else can I say except that, "Guys, we should do this more often!" That's the wai sik loh in me talking, of course.
