T'was the day before Chinese New Year and my wife & I decided to have lunch outside and take a drive around PJ to see what the traffic situation was like. The roads were pretty much clear and driving through SS 2 was a bliss. We thought that we would try having lunch at Section 17, since we haven't been there in some time. Initially we thought of having Uncle Cheng's Beef Noodle but the coffee shop was closed. So instead we headed for the Section 17 square and had lunch at Restoran Wah Cheong instead. We had the Pork Ball Noodles. They were out of Loh See Fun so we had Hor Fun instead. The soup was peppery. The meat ball was not that on. The noodles were actually quite bland. Maybe we should have the soup version rather than the "Kon Low" version.
The Chicken Rice stall was doing roaring business. There was continuously a long line of customers waiting to buy the chicken rice and this was all throughout the time we had our lunch there. Could it be that I could have missed an awesome chicken rice stall here? Well, not to be left out, I decided to doggy bag a packet home to try out.
Uh, it was a let down. I expected the rice to be fragrant. It was not. I expected the chicken to taste really special. It was not. Maybe if there wasn't such a long line of people waiting to buy it, I might not have built up an unrealistic expectation. This place is not good.
