It was the first day of Chinese New Year and my cousin who had not been backed to Kuala Lumpur for 10 years was dying for some crabs. So off we went to look for some seafood restaurant that would still be open on the first day and we came upon the Ocean Palace Seafood Station at Aman Suria. It's been a place that I had wanted to try for awhile but had not gotten to it and since there were few choices that day - it was decided for us that it would be our place for dinner. We started with the Fragrant Fried Pork Rib with Minced Garlic and Ocean Palace's Special Chef's Signature Tofu. The Tofu - I liked - it had some crab meat in it and there was some roe on top of it as well giving the dish a pretty and very appetizing look and the taste did not disappoint either. The Pork Rib would appeal to those who are garlic lovers as there's lots of garlic on it though I found the meat to be not tender enough. Well, maybe because the meat would have been a few days old already.
The Steamed Teowchew Style fish was quite good as well. The fish was nicely steamed though not the best I had, but the soup that came with the fish was excellent. There was enough assam in it to give it a wonderful sourish savoury taste. Most places dilute the sourness but not here. In fact, if they do serve it, I would order the soup by itself. The plate of Hong Kong Kai Lan with Scallops matched the quality of the rest of the dishes as well, so we were not disappointed. But what really took the winner's podium that night was their Fried Sri Lanka Crab with Cream Sauce. The crab had lots of meat in it and it was fresh so the meat was actually quite sweet. Some crabs have meat but tend to be tasteless but not this Sri Lanka crab. There was a generous amount of cream sauce, so you don't have to worry about not having enough sauce. I absolutely loved this dish and I am not biggest crab lover around.
Oh according to Bernice, my toilet inspector, the toilet is very clean so it's safe to use.
