A while back, Elijah brought me to a fusion Thai restaurant and introduced me to how Italian ingredients could be sucesfully mixed with Thai cooking. Yes it's the Black Canyon Coffee at The Summit USJ. Since then, they have another 3 outlets. Apart from that fusion and thai food, as the name suggests, they also serve coffee. Our appetizer was the Golden Purse (RM15.90) which is actually a fried wantan. We were glad that we ordered it as it was very good. It's perfectly deep fried stuffed wantan with shredded chicken, carrot, onion & mushroom in it and what is amazing is how thin the wantan skin is. Eventhough the skin is so thin, the whole thing is perfectly held together without breaking out. Unfortunately I can't capture how thin the skin is with the camera on the treo 750v. A note is that you will have to eat the golden purse hot - once it's cold it doesn't taste as good.
My wife's Chicken & Galingal in coconut soup (RM9.90) is essentially a savoury version of bubur cha cha. Just in case, you are an igomarus like me, galingal is lengkuas. My wife felt that the soup should have slightly spicier but then again, Black Canyon caters to a wide range of diners so I can understand why they decided to take a safer approach. I had the fetuccine with green chicken curry (RM 8.90) and I loved this. It's fetuccine with a lovely green chicken curry. Simple but good.
The letdown was the Kids menu. The toast was horrible, the ham a bit too hard. Black Canyon Coffee Lot G(N), The Summit USJ Persiaran Kewajipan, USJ 1 47600 UEP Subang Jaya
