Ipohmali posted this in the forum but I thought it should have more visibility. Thanks Ipohmali for planning my day in Ipoh. For BREAKFAST: (1) Dim Sum - There are several good place, namely Foo San (they have a branch in SS2), Ming Kok and Yoke Fook Moon. All located in town center. (2) Old Town Kopitiam - This is the root of the many, many branches booming at Klang Valley nowadays. Besides the coffe and roti bakar, the CKT from the shop across the road is good too. For LUNCH: (1) Asam Laksa We also call it Ipoh Turf Club Laksa. In the initial days, this Laksa stall was located in Ipoh Turf Club. Now relocate to a shop. Location, next to Ming Kok Dim Sum. (2) Fish Ball Noodle and more CKT At Canning Garden. The fish ball noodle is also called Hor Hee in Ipoh. Dont ask me why. The CKT meeting all your stringent specification. Good. (3) Curry Mee Location, Ipoh Garden South. They have all the ingredients the curry mee supposed to have + char siew and siu yuk. The famous old town curry mee is no where to compare with this. (4) Beef Noodle Location, Old Town. The noodle is Hakka style and come with a big bowl of thinly sliced, juicy and tender beef in soup. A nearby shop also serves pork satay. I dont really recommend that shop due to hygiene purpose. But strangely that shop it is always packed.
For DINNER: (1) Ngar Choy Kai (Chicken and Bean Sprout) Location, behind the Police Station at town center. Two shops to choose. First, Onn Kee (good taste but bad service during peak hours you will have to wait for at least 1 hour). Alternative Lou Wong (good service serve to table within 10 min but the taste slightly slacking compared to Onn Kee). (2) Tong Ku Ting (Hawker Center) Location, Ipoh Garden. Recommended picks popiah, claypot chicken rice, fried tung hoon, ikan bakar and ABC. (3) Yum Yum (Nyonya Food Restaurant) Location, Greentown. I shall say this is the best Nyonya food in town. Recommended menu asam curry fish head, fried chicken, honey chicken, pandan chicken, sambal sotong. (4) Wah Chai @ Menglembu Recommended picks stir fry fish slice with ginger, kung poh mantis prawn, and
(ask for recommendation as their menu always change)FOR SUPPER : (1) Tong Shui Kai (Ipoh Wai Sik Kai) Only open from evening until late night. Location, along Sam Tet Primary School. Lots and lots of hawker food varieties. But sorry, I dont have any recommendations. I do not have habit for supper. tagged with ipoh + food |
