A while back I had written a review on Sri Paandi in Section 11. Last night we decided to go to the Section 11 branch of the original Sri Paandi from Brickfields with some friends from Taiwan who wanted to try out what eating from a banana leaf rice is like. We decided against going to Brickfields because parking can be difficult sometimes. Parking at Section 11 is definitely a lot easier. As we walked in to Sri Paandi Sdn Bhd, the waiters from the alternative Sri Paandi tried to get us to go toward their outlet so it looks like the rivalry is still going strong between the stores. If you are confused as to which is which, the original store is called Sri Paandi Sdn Bhd. When we arrived, the store was a bit quiet and Samuel was asking whether we were at the right store. I assured him we were. In reality, I needed assurance as well but there was no point making Samuel worried as well. However, when the food came all doubts disappeared. The curry was excellent and I particularly liked the bitter gourd curry that came as a condiment. The papadam was freshly fried so it was still hot when it arrived on our banana leaf rice. The second batch of rice was slightly lumpy though the first batch was nice and firm. Oh well - can't have it all. In the end our Taiwanese guests were very happy with the meal and had a chance to see a teh tarik demo as well. We were happy with the price - it was RM190 for 20 people. Good deal for such a hearty meal. Oh yes, the masala tea is awesome. Must try!
