Sri Petaling - once you were so far away but not the case now. Now it's easily accesible via several highways. How times have changed but fortunately the quality of the dim sum restaurants remains pretty much the same - or so some say. Continuing on my "pau" hunt, I chanced upon Restoran Clan quite by accident. We were just driving along the road one night and we noticed that there was a sign that advertised their special pau so we decided to stop. I am glad we did. First the pau. They have a special "kai woh pau" which is a sort of "tai pau" with glutinous rice in it. It's supposedly famous. It had lots of ingredients in it but I found the glutinous rice a bit too hard. It was certainly different but not necessarily something that I would want to have over and over again.
What stood out was the black pepper chicken pau. Spicy black pepper and de-boned chicken meat - two things I like very much. Different and nice. Apart from that they have several varieties of pau apart from the usual "char siew pau" or "sang yuk pau". I also liked the dim sum. I guess I am a sucker for dim sum at any place that only steams the dim sum when you order and not leave it to be overcooked. So I would definitely make this a more regular stop if I am ever in need of a midnight dim sum snack.
