That Restaurant, Bandar Puteri Puchong E-mail

C: Hey where did u have lunch today?
V: Oh, I went to That restaurant lah. You know That one in Puchong?
C: Huh, which one is that restaurant?
V: That Restaurant in Bandar Puteri Puchong. That one lah.
C: Huh, still don't get it. Which one is that one?
V: That Restaurant on Jalan Bandar Puteri 5/2.
C: Yalah, but which one is that?
V: I already told u, That Restaurant lah!

OK, whatever possessed the owner to play with the name of his restaurant, I do not know - perhaps he has a quirky sense of humour. But what I can say (and I think Ariel, Ben & Tham will vouch too) is that the food there is good. Ultimately that's what counts, the quality of the food. You can name your restaurant "Taste like Sh*t" but if the food tastes good, diners will make their way there.

Elegant Inn Taman Connaught revisited E-mail

Revisited Elegant Inn after they had renovated their outlet in Taman Connaught for the first time in perhaps 2 years tonight. Earlier in the afternoon, my wife and I had visited a good friend, LCW, who's a champion rottweiler breeder. While we there, we were introduced to Jo, a fellow foodie and a waisikkai reader. So my wife decided to invite LCW & his wife and Jo to join us for dinner at Elegant Inn, a place that Jo had mentioned was on her "want to do" list before she dies. OK, I exaggerate on the "want to do" list before she dies but she did say she would love to try the food there.

I first visited Elegant Inn in 2005 after hearing about their amazing fried rice from a friend, Jack, and I had loved the food there. Since that first trip, I had visited in 2 more times. Yes 3 visits in 4 years is not that many times, but you know I can't afford to repeat restaurants too often, otherwise I would just not be able to get around to hundreds of restaurants and eateries available in Kuala Lumpur.

Restoran Hong Sang, Taman Serdang Raya E-mail

Edward had been telling me about this mixed rice stall that serves over 50 varieties of vegetables and meats that complement servings of rice. Naturally, I had to check this place out. Located in Taman Serdang Raya, that's just off the KL Seremban expressway, it's not exactly hard to get there. It's just far out for most people if you don't happen to be working nearby.

Edward wasn't exaggerating when he said that there were lots of varieties available. There were easily over 40 varieties of food available, maybe 50. I think you can see for yourself in the video the choice that's on offer. Wow!

Papa John's Pizza, IOI Mall Puchong E-mail

Papa John's Pizza Papa John's, which is another of Berjaya's food franchise that they have brought into Malaysia, recently opened it's second outlet in Malaysia at IOI Mall. The first one is located at Berjaya Times Square. Yet another score for Puchong! Papa John's specializes in pizzas and claim that what makes their pizzas better are their ingredients and their special butter garlic sauce which they serve with their pizzas.

Of course, being the inquisitive foodie, I had to try it out. It helps that both my children love pizza as well, so they would provide valuable feedback on whether the pizzas here are good or not.

KLIA Wantan Mee, KLIA Area E-mail

Edward, my fellow colleague and food lover, had been raving about this awesome char siew (barbecued pork) wantan mee at the eateries near KLIA's Concorde Inn for the longest time. So one Saturday, we decided to take him up on his offer of directing us there. I say directing because I was the one who was the designated driver.

Using the new Maju expressway to KLIA made the trip there a really quick one. We were there in 25 minutes and we quickly settled ourselves in to a table close enough to the stall for the food to arrive fast but far enough that the heat would not affect us. The food arrived very quickly but we could not dig into it as our photographer, Ariel, took her time in taking the photos and it did not help that her favourite lens was acting up. Argghhh! It took us longer to wait for her to finish taking the photographs than for me to drive there. OK, I exaggerate but it certainly took longer than the time it took for the food to arrive after we ordered it! Oh, if you notice towards the end of the video, the char siew disappears away as Ariel decides to make the whole plate of char siew her own.

Restoran Pu Yuan, Puchong Jaya E-mail

I had passed by Pu Yuan on several occassions, I had noticed that this place gets quite a crowd. several newspaper articles stuck to the window served as evidence of their quality. while i live just a short distance away from Pu Yuan, I had not been there yet. well, what can I say, Puchong is home to highest concentration of eateries per residents in selangor. It takes a while to get around to all of them. even Mr CKT, a Waisikkai regular and longer Puchong resident has not visited every single eatery in Puchong.

But it’s part of my quest to explore every eatery in Puchong, so it was with a sense of duty that I entered Pu Yuan with my posse of three.

OK, this sounds like I am tooting my own horn, you know singing my own praises. Well, if it sounds like that to you, it's cause i am.

My years of hard work has paid off. I have finally hit paydirt! I am going to be so rich! NOT!

The Waisikkai map of Kuala Lumpur eateries is now ranked as one of the top maps on Kuala Lumpur when you do a search on Kuala Lumpur in Google Maps.

And it even has a link to all my other maps I have created as Chiefeater!

Thank you so much for your support. This wouldn't have happenned without you, the little people. Uh, wait a minute, I am also the little people aren't I?

Crabbing in Seremban E-mail

Yes, yes, yes. It's been a very long time since my last post. Jacqueline has asked whether I had stopped eating or gone vegan. Let me state for the record that no such thing has happened. I am very much still a meatarian and still very much love my pork.

As the title suggests, I went for a crabbing trip with some colleagues and friends. Of late, I have assumed the position of Crabbing (trip) Organizing Officer in a company and part of my KPI is to discover new places to eat crabs and find out how many ways there are to prepare crabs. However, I have developed a very strong partiality to Salted Egg Crabs to the exclusion of almost all other preparations.

ms crabsSalted Egg crabs, if prepared well, is absolutely divine and as you can see from the picture (click on it for a larger view) it should elicit such a wonderment on the face of those who behold it's beauty. Chili crabs or steamed crabs just don't stand up to the way that salted egg crabs brings out the flavour of the meat of the crabs. But i digress. What of these crabs that I mentioned in Seremban? Rather than use my own words, I shall have my fellow crabbing companions tell you about the wonders and "delectableness" of the Seremban Salted Egg Crabs.
